Understanding Efficiency Drag
Use this tool to calculate the “Drag” on your team’s velocity. The higher the score, the more “friction” exists in your current process routing.
Goal: Aim for a score below 15x to ensure Least Cost Routing is effective.
How to Score
- Timeframe: How long does the task take from request to delivery?
- Skill Set: How specialized is the talent required?
- Priority: Is this interrupt-driven or planned work?
- Dependencies: How many other teams must sign off?
- Lead Time (WIP): How full is the current queue?
Interpretation
A score of Low (5-15x) implies highly automated, low-friction routing.
A score of High (25x+) indicates a need for process re-engineering before adding more resources.
