Least Cost Routing & Efficiency Drag

Understanding Efficiency Drag

Use this tool to calculate the “Drag” on your team’s velocity. The higher the score, the more “friction” exists in your current process routing.

info

Goal: Aim for a score below 15x to ensure Least Cost Routing is effective.

How to Score

  • Timeframe: How long does the task take from request to delivery?
  • Skill Set: How specialized is the talent required?
  • Priority: Is this interrupt-driven or planned work?
  • Dependencies: How many other teams must sign off?
  • Lead Time (WIP): How full is the current queue?

Interpretation

A score of Low (5-15x) implies highly automated, low-friction routing.
A score of High (25x+) indicates a need for process re-engineering before adding more resources.
